My name is Archie and welcome to The Film Archway!

This blog has been a long time coming. While I’ve always loved movies, my passion for the art of film making came about while I was studying my A-levels. I made the decision to study Film at university and it was the best decision I could have made! There I learnt from academic experts and had plenty of opportunity to discuss and debate with my classmates.

Throughout my three years at university, as people began thinking about what comes next, I found myself gravitating towards film criticism and journalism. The act of picking apart a piece of work, understanding it, and interpreting it was something I deeply enjoyed. I had also dedicated much of my study and assigned work to connecting political and social issues with the medium. The way film can reflect periods of change through their content and their practices is fascinating to me.

And so, as I move into the “real” world, I hope I can cement myself within this side of an immense industry, bringing together what I’ve learnt and what interests me most.

I hope that The Film Archway is a thought-provoking place, just like many of my university classes were!
